Mesquite Solar 3 is the latest phase of the landmark Mesquite Solar complex, one of the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar facilities in the U.S. Construction activities on the 150-megawatt (MW) expansion project began in August 2015. The project created hundreds of construction jobs, part of a multi-phase expansion that employed nearly 800 workers at peak. The solar plant was completed December 2016.

Mesquite Solar 3 generates enough clean energy to provide about a third of the electricity needed to power 14 U.S. Navy and Marine Corps bases in Calif. The power has been sold under a 25-year power purchase agreement with Western Area Power Administration on behalf of the United States Department of the Navy (DON). The agreement represents the largest purchase of clean renewable energy by a federal entity.
